Newsday – Town Board members approve 2 new hires

North Hempstead Town Board members have unani­mously approved hiring a Long Beach official and a former Hempstead Town official.

Mitchell Pitnick has been hired to be the deputy chief of staff, and Gordon Tepper as director of communications for the town. The vote on their hires was Jan. 22.

Pitnick, 40, previously served as chief deputy town attorney for North Hempstead, where he worked for 10 years before leav­ing in 2018 to serve as counsel to former Hempstead Supervisor Laura Gillen. He was hired to the $130,000 position to serve Supervisor Judi Bosworth. Pitnick is set to begin with the town Monday.

Tepper, 39, of Long Beach, was hired as communications direc­tor for the town after serving as communications director for Long Beach. His annual salary will be $120,000. Tepper was first hired by Long Beach in 2011 by City Manager Charles Theofan. His last day in Long Beach is Jan. 31 and he is set to begin work with North Hempstead on Feb. 3.
